Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Structured daytime treatment for adults who need more support.
A higher level of support without leaving Charlotte.
PHP helps bridge the gap between residential treatment and intensive outpatient care. Patients receive a structured treatment day that includes clinical groups, education, individual support, recovery planning, and therapeutic services designed to strengthen stability and reduce the risk of relapse.
For many patients, this level of care provides the added time, structure, and accountability needed to begin recovery with a stronger foundation.

Treatment that fits into real life.
Not every person who needs a higher level of care needs to leave home for treatment. Dilworth Center’s PHP allows patients to receive intensive daytime support while continuing to live in their own community.
This approach helps patients practice recovery skills in real time, stay connected to family and local support systems, and prepare for long-term recovery in the environment where they will continue building their lives.
For adults who need more than traditional outpatient treatment.
PHP may be appropriate for adults who are struggling with substance use, relapse risk, or co-occurring mental health symptoms that require more structure than IOP can provide. It may also serve as a step-down option for patients returning from residential or inpatient treatment who are not yet ready for a less intensive schedule.
The goal is to help patients stabilize, build recovery skills, and transition safely into ongoing care.

Recovery affects the whole family.
Dilworth Center has long recognized that families need support, education, and guidance as their loved one begins treatment. PHP patients and their loved ones benefit from Dilworth Center’s family-centered approach, which helps families better understand substance use, mental health, boundaries, communication, and the recovery process.
Family involvement can help strengthen the support system patients return to each day.
Evidence-based care in a structured setting.
Dilworth Center’s PHP includes a combination of group therapy, psychoeducation, relapse prevention, recovery planning, individual support, and therapeutic interventions for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns.
Treatment is designed to help patients better understand their symptoms, develop practical coping skills, strengthen accountability, and build a plan for continued recovery beyond PHP.

Structured support with a clear path forward.
Dilworth Center’s Partial Hospitalization Program is designed to provide intensive daytime support for approximately 3 to 5 weeks before patients transition into Dilworth Center’s Intensive Outpatient Program.
PHP meets Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., giving patients consistent structure during the day while allowing them to return home and continue practicing recovery skills in everyday life. This schedule helps patients build stability, strengthen accountability, and prepare for the next phase of treatment with continued support through IOP.
