As the field of mental health continues to evolve, clinicians are increasingly called upon to provide care that extends beyond symptom stabilization and crisis intervention. Beyond the Acute Phase: Strategies for Long-Term Treatment Success is a continuing education event designed for mental health professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of sustainable, evidence-based approaches for individuals with chronic or recurring mental health conditions. This training will explore the critical transition from acute care to long-term support, highlighting treatment models that prioritize continuity, community integration, and individualized recovery.

Participants will be instructed on how to:
- Identify core components of long-term treatment models for individuals with chronic or recurring mental health conditions, including community-based and blended care strategies.
- Evaluate the impact of enhanced acute-phase care on long-term outcomes using evidence from longitudinal research and clinical trials (e.g., STAR*D, MST).
- Apply recovery-oriented and individualized approaches to extend care beyond crisis stabilization, case management, structured after care planning.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Megan Winchester, LCSW, CCPT, QS
Associate Director of Outpatient Services, Lifeskills South Florida
Megan Winchester has remained a key member of the team, serving as Lead Primary Therapist at Lifeskills South Florida’s Outpatient Program in Delray Beach. Her dedication, passion, and rapport among staff and clients support her transition into Associate Director of Outpatient Services. Megan will continue to work in tandem with Miguel Nerys, Director of Outpatient Services. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Clinical Social Work at the University of Kentucky. Megan has been a therapist for over a decade and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. She brings multiple years of experience working with clients in various treatment settings, with her passion focused on working with individuals struggling with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. Megan is inspired by her personal and professional experience with addiction and recovery. She utilizes solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and twelve-step facilitation to support clients through treatment. Megan has lived in South Florida since 2017 but will always be a Kentucky girl at heart.
