Caitlin Rainwater, LPC, LCMHC, LCAS, CSI
and
Jayson Ainsworth LCSW, LCAS, CSIÂ
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
This presentation includes an overview of the creative nature of experiential psychotherapy and the use of creative interventions in the counseling setting. Utilizing the power of creativity to bring something into being, and use of creativity to assist clients in developing a greater connection to their emotions and allow for a deeper ability to tap into feelings and a loss of inhibition and self-censorship. Utilizing flexibility, risk taking, intuition, thinking outside of the box, spontaneity, and courage to temporarily suspend the rational process in therapy. Highlighted will be the value of collaboration in the treatment setting and utilizing strengths of the treatment team to assist clients with holistic and integrated healing and recovery.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

- Explore the fundamental principles and assumptions that underlie experiential therapy, such as the importance of emotions and the mind-body connection.
- Describe how clients engage in hands-on experiences and role play to address emotional issues and gain insight.
- Discuss the types of issues or conditions for which experiential therapy is particularly effective, such as trauma, addiction, and relationship problems.
- Identify the advantages of creative collaboration in therapy, such as improving client outcomes and increased engagement.

Jayson Ainsworth LCSW, LCAS, CSIÂ
Primary Counselor, Momentum Recovery

Originally from Wilmington, N.C., James attended Catawba College to pursue his undergraduate degree. After graduating, he worked at a state funded residential treatment facility here in Wilmington and pursued his Certified Substance Abuse Counselor credential. While strongly rooted in the strengths-based and cognitive-behavioral perspectives, he draws upon a variety of approaches based on the needs of the individual. James has worked with adolescents and adults on a range of developmental, mental health, and addictions-related concerns in community-based, outpatient, and residential settings.
Specific areas of clinical experience include substance-related and addictive disorders, depressive and anxiety disorders, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and adjustment challenges. James holds a master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and is pursuing licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
