Workshop Objectives
- Participants will define new ASAM criteria for determining appropriate interventions
- Participants will describe best practices for engaging teens and families in said interventions
- Participants will define experiential therapy and its benefits for adolescent populations
- Participants will describe the experiential learning cycle and its applications for group and individual therapeutic processing
- Participants will describe the utility of metaphor is clinical practice with adolescents
ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Logan Baker M.Ed., LPC-MHSP, Primary Therapist, ARCH Academy
Logan Baker, LPC-MHSP, is a primary therapist at ARCH Academy and a psychotherapist in private practice. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation and holds a Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Vanderbilt University. Logan has experience working in adult and adolescent residential treatment as well as in community mental health settings. He is particularly passionate about person centered and experientially based approaches to healing and working with those recovering from trauma, abuse and substance use disorders.
Laura Ezell, ADAC Intern, Admissions & Outreach Coordinator, ARCH Academy
Laura has worked at Cumberland Heights for over 12 years, first working in the Women’s Program, the Professional’s Program, Extended Care, and now the Adolescent Program – ARCH Academy. Laura has been working in the substance use treatment field since 2006 across all levels of care and populations including outpatient, intensive outpatient, recovery residences, and residential treatment. In her current role, she is inspired to help young people disrupt their use patterns and learn healthier strategies to cope with stressors. Her own recovery journey started as a teen; she says this early exposure to recovery concepts enriched every aspect of her life and forged a path into this mission-driven work.
