A Wonderful Journey

Reflections from a former patient…

I was a patient at Dilworth Center in 2019. I am excited to share that I just celebrated my
two-year sober birthday. It has been a wonderful journey. While I must admit that it was
difficult for the first few months, Dilworth Center gave me everything I needed to be
successful.

I have a wonderful sponsor who has helped me every step of the way. I believe
sponsorship has been crucial in helping me navigate difficult situations and kept me
on track with the twelve steps. I have a home group that has become deeply
important to me. Not only do I have their support, they have mine.

My higher power truly took away my desire to drink. I have not wanted to drink at all,
and my life is completely different now. I do not criticize others, attempt to control
people, or feel the need to be in power all the time. I am able to solve problems
without blaming others. After two years, my husband and I are strong in our marriage
again. I never thought that would happen, but my program gave me the strength to
persevere.

I am realistic and know that one drink will be the end of my new life. That’s why I
continue to attend meetings even though I feel as though I’ve been healed.

I want to thank everyone at Dilworth Center for giving me my life back. My
counselor’s guidance and wisdom played a major role in my success.
